Provide Web-based product design and strategy to diverse business and non-profit clients on a contract/freelance basis. Projects have included:

  • Redesign of sections of American Greetings' photo gift site Photoworks.com (see below).
  • An online dictionary/lexicon and scholarly material on the Michif language (a Cree/French creole) for the University of Lethbridge. I have worked with the principal investigator to create a user experience targeted at both Michif speakers and academics, including search and browse interfaces and an administrative back-end interface. The final deliverable will be a complete technical specification.

User Experience Analyst (Contract)

American Greetings Interactive manages the collected Web properties of American Greetings, including BlueMountain.com, AG.com, and Photoworks.com among others.

  • Strategized and built a warm and elegant user experience for AGI's photo gift Web site Photoworks.com; areas of responsibility included checkout flow and help sections. Aligned various stakeholders on the technical constraints and design requirements. Documented the process (including areas that were descoped due to technical constraints) through annotated wireframes and detailed interaction requirements.
  • Designed product-oriented experiences for American Greetings Interactive 2009 holiday season promotions, including producing business requirements for product creators, SKU management requirements, annotated wireframes and detailed interaction documents.
  • Developed and conducted surveys; the respondents' insights led to cancellation of several retail products for the peak 2009 season (winter holidays).

TheLadders is the best-known and highest-volume job Web site in the $100k+ market. Its Enterprise product line is the recruiter-facing product; it allows recruiters and other hiring managers to post jobs and search online resumes.

  • Gathered, developed and documented requirements for small and large Web-based projects, including page and process flows, wireframes, business requirements and functional requirements.
  • Led cross-functional team through product development process.
  • Conducted user research via diverse methods, including focus groups, surveys and individual interviews
  • Conducted research into industry drivers and competitors and developed business cases for product enhancements.

Register.com is an established provider of domain names and Web-based services for small businesses and organizations.

  • Owned P&L for Web hosting, Do-It-Myself Website and e-commerce site-building products and services. Led cross-functional team in product development cycle from concept to launch.
  • Spearheaded strategic relaunch of hosting product, including design, features and functionality of the backend user account administration interface. Managed user testing during closed beta release of hosting platform.
  • Developed product strategy and roadmap, competitive analyses, business cases, business and technical requirements, and product marketing plans.
  • Provided subject matter expertise to internal stakeholders.
  • Performed financial modeling, including pricing, subscription and churn analyses.
